Description
Boughner Pottery of Greensboro Jar with Triple Decoration Here is a wonderful and rare 1 Gallon Stoneware Jar whose Tulip makes it easily attributable to the Boughner Pottery of Greensboro, PA.  The Boughner Pottery operated in Greensboro from the 1820's to 1867.   Dating around 1860, this beauty is Extremely Unusual with 3 Decorations.  On the front is the highly coveted 1. Boughner Sideways Tulip with 8 leaves and a large blossom with three petals.  If you turn the jar 90 degrees clockwise, you find an 2. Upright Tulip with 14 leaves and a blossom with 5 petals.  If you turn the jar another 90 degrees clockwise, you find the 3. Profile of a Man!  As they say, you will never see another one like this! Comes recently from a West Virginia collection that I purchased. Measures 8.5" tall and 7.5" wide at the top. Very Good Condition:  A shallow 1/2" chip to the left of the sideways tulip that is partly in the making.  A 4.5" glued tight hairline on the bottom coming up 3" below the upright tulip.  A 3" surface drying line inside in the making and a 1/2" chip on the very bottom.  No rim chips or stains.   A Boughner Triple Decorated Jar in Very Good Condition. This beauty ships, doubleboxed and fully insured, for FREE. Please see our other auctions and ebay store items. Thank you for shopping Doc's Crocks!  Duane Watson, Proprietor.
