Description
A very fine Art Deco Clarice Cliff Tea for Two set decorated in the floral pattern known as "Hollyhocks". This set has an unusual combination of Art Deco shapes which can be seen to be Factory original as all the colourings, decorative patterns and backstamps exactly match each other. The shapes fit well together and make up a very attractive T42. Unusual features: 1) The Bonjour Circular Teapot is teamed up with the Conical Sugarbowl and 4.5" Conical Milk Jug from the Conical Tea Set range of shapes. 2) Two Sideplates are provided. 3) A square Biscuit dish is provided. Sized 4.2" x 4.2". 4) The Conical Cups have the open triangular handles of the late 1930s period. Decoration: The set is expertly hand decorated in the floral pattern known as "Hollyhocks". This very attractive pattern consists of the flower group plus a very mellow blending of beige, yellow and powder blue bandings. The interior rim of the cup has two of the banding colours. The floral group is on both sides of the Cup, Jug and Teapot. References: Hollyhocks. Pattern Number 6741. Retailed 1936-37. Page 74.
