CANADIANS PLEASE WHEN BIDDING PLEASE SHIPPING CAN BE HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS VIA UPS OR FEDEX EXCEPT TORONTOThis window is part of history DIMENSIONS 54 1/8" X 32" INCLUDING WOOD FRAMELIGHT BULB, & ELECTRICITYThis window was originally damaged and has been totally restored to like new condition. It came from a house on Lafayette ave. in Buffalo, N.Y. where the " Pan American Exposition of 1901 presented Light & Electricity to the world. I believe the artist who built this window was told to execute a stylized light bulb to blen in with the windows of that period. There is a torch on the top of window to represent light and could also represent carbon arc lights which were developed in this time period. A Thomas Edison Photo image was probably used as a reference for the original stained glass artist. I have actually found another window of the same exact design in another house on Utica Street in Buffalo from a older house 1860 approximately. The window was newer in precision however did not have the nice german antique gold crackle glass. The house of original where the original window came from was built in 1896, which is the same year AC Electric current came to Buffalo NY. The nice antique crackle gold glass is still being manufactured in Germany. The window has old and new antique gold crackle glass. The color is rich in the color of glowing old light gold ! The village of Niagara Falls , NY was first illuminated in 1860 with calcium flames. Niagara Falls, Electricity , & Street Light bulbs all originated in the village of Niagara Falls, NY. The first power plant named Niagara Falls Power & Manufacturing began to develop DC electricity in 1880. Edisons first street light bulbs produced by Brush Electric Light Co. were first demonstrated in the village of Niagara Falls in 1881. In 1882 Charles Brush arrived in Niagara Falls with 16 carbon arc electric lights and a generator to illuminate the Great Falls.Jacob Schoellkopf ( who became famous for developing the first turbines for generating electricity in the world ) offered to power Brush's electric generator to run the carbon lights. The limiting factor concerning this discovery was DC current could only travel a few miles in power lines. Nicholas Tesla a researcher from Croatia with Edison presented AC Electric current and between 1896 and 1901 the Niagara Falls Power Co. in collaboration with Westinghouse Electric built long distance power lines to Buffalo , N.Y. Than Buffalo had Light and electricity at the (picture #5) (picture #12) "Pan American Worlds Fair."The city of Buffalo was powered by 25 cycle AC Electric Current. The Map of Buffalo in picture # 12 shows the electric lines. These electric lines traveled to the 1896 house with the light bulb window ! The frame of the window is a authentic period wood frame : howeveer it is not the original frame of the original window ! I added the bevels to allow window to fit into frame. The stained glass for the restoration is authentic new Tiffany glass produced in Pennsylvania using the Tiffany glass formula. The windows were actually insured for $5,000 per window ! There are actually two windows restored with the original glass. If you lose the bidding we can actually build reproductions for $1200 per unit with colors you desire ! These windows are really popular !The solid oak frame of this window came from Buffalo Reuse in Buffalo, NY. Last Photograph # 12 ! They de-construct houses and sell all the beautiful wood, trim , and etc.Ironically following history Buffalo NY is holding a ASES National Solar Energy Conference May 12-16, 2009 Photo Voltaic ElectricityGod Bless you,Jim Sawyer
