Description
Victorian Art Glass Basket Basket Description:  Whimsy, Elaborate, Rare and a One of a Kind Victorian Art Glass Basket. Blown opalescent swirl and clear glass is shaped into a bulbous bowl that has a noticeable quilted diamond optic pressed pattern on the interior side that is finished with a blown out, pulled, and free formed rim that has multiple hand crimped ruffles that look like candy ribbon. The rim has a beautiful 1" purple amethyst ribbon band that is blown on the interior side, and is cased with opalescent on the exterior rim that is conjoined as an established crested edge of blue-ish moonstone opalescent color on the rim. Vaseline glass handle has a twisted bow knot or key hole loop at the top and vaseline glass rod handle is one piece that is a blank. Decoration on the front depicts, one crystal clear cased glass and multi spatter coloured yellow and white, cherry blossom flower with amber button center that is attached to hand applied vaseline green glass branches and leaves. Double free formed, blown glass branch with leaves have detailing of veins on each leaf. Each flower petal also has pressed, crimped, and scalloped detailing as pics will show.  Basket bowl has a very low footed base with a sunken rough pontil and handle does GLOW GREEN. Eye catching color combination and pattern that is envious to own as a collector of Victorian Art Glass Baskets.    Measurements:  6-1/2 '' tall. 4" inner diameter rim. 5-1/2" diameter rim. 2-3/4" diameter rim on the low footed base. Manufactured:  Not marked and is most likely to be from British glass manufacturing co., Stevens and Williams , ca. 1880's. Mint Condition:  Basket with attached handle and decoration have No major chips, scratches, cloudiness or hairline breaks on the rim, base or the bulbous glass shape vessel.  There is a little bit of roughness showing on the sunken pontil which was caused from when it was made, and is not polished smooth like most, as pics will show. Glass decoration and handle are well secure. Displays lovely and retains its full color, luster, and clarity.
