1775-83 WORCESTER Fine Porcelain Hand Painted Charger / Cabinet Plate Look at this ! Don't miss it! This is an outstanding example of early English Fine Porcelain. It is a stunning charger with an incredible hand painted landscape view of the famous Conway (Conwy) Castle in North WalesHere are the obvious facts about it:It has 3 holes on the back, which means it was intended as a display piece to be hung on the wall, not for everyday use. It was meant to be displayed in the cabinet or library of a large English mansion - a Cabinet PlateMarked with an incised "W" on the bottom as pictured. This mark stands for Worcester and was in use during the period between 1775-1783. During this time, Worcester produced England's finest porcelain, and even rivaled the famous Continental factories like Meissen and SevresThe landscape is signed on the front left with initials TL or LT, please see the photos. Whoever the artist is, he/she must have been British, as the back has a cursive inscription in blue letters which says "Conway Castle". This is the English transcription of the Welsh place name. In Welsh it would be "Conwy", not "Conway"We will research the artist and post any information we find soon.
